The LED light bulb does not come close to the amount of light of the 40W bulb. After researching this, it appears a 40Watt bulb produces about 450 lumens. The LED bulb, produces about 30 lumens. What makes the LED bulb appear as bright as it does, Because its light is very focused. In fact, it is hard to stare directly at the bulb for the light hurts the eyes. If you are trying to light up a room, than an LED bulb would not be a solution. If you are trying to light a small area or back light something, it is a solid choice.

While the LED light bulb will not light up a room like a regular bulb, it does have an intense focused light. If you have any applications that need this kind of lighting, I recommend giving the LED light bulb a try. If you don't have an application like this, file LED lighting in the back of your mind.
